Church Exhorted Members and Newcomers to Receive the Holy Spirit

Montreal Immanuel Sunday service was blessed with more new brothers that attended the Sunday service and Sunday afternoon Bible study The Church gives thanks to God for the continuous growth of the brothers in number and in deepening faith through the word of God.

The Sunday sermon explicated on the meaning of Jesus’ cross and his resurrection in order to bring clarity to our own salvation. The preacher, Pastor Jefferson emphasized on the correct understanding of the cross of Jesus and his coming basing on Romans 3 and Matthew 21:33-44. Jesus revealed the truth  about his coming and the cross that he must carry for our sins and rebuild the kingdom of God with him as the capstone. The Parable of the Vineyard emphasized that the son, referring to Jesus was sent by the owner to the tenants
to be respected. However, the story in the parable revealed that the tenants killed the heir.
“Last of all, he sent his son to them. ‘They will respect my son,’ he said. But when the tenants saw the son, they said to each other, ‘This is the heir. Come, let’s kill him and take his inheritance. So they took him and threw him out of the vineyard and killed him.”  Matthew 21: 37-39

This is was a tragedy, however Jesus resurrected. This is the true story of the meaning of Jesus’ death representing the cross as sacrifice and the resurrection representing victory towards eternal life. This is what we believe and having faith is to believe in the cross and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
The Preacher exhorted the attendants to live for eternal things by following the life of Jesus and as Abraham who believed in the promise of God without wavering even when the promise seemed impossible to be realized. As Joseph who overturned the evil works of his brothers by enduring in good faith believing in God to intervene for the evil to turn into goodness. As believers we must attain this faith and be ones who truly experience life anew in Jesus Christ.
After the Sunday service, there was a lively and joyous fellowship at the table with delicious food prepared by members. Brothers also contributed their own share of meals for Sunday lunch. Soon after a hearty lunch, a game of Table Tennis followed and the day ended with Bible study by Pastor Susanna on the story of Abraham. The Church will hold Genesis book study every Sunday, please pray for the growth of the brothers who are attending regular Bible studies.
